This is a Joint post including both writers, noted at the beginning of each section. We hope you enjoy our collaboration! Below portion written by Maggie.
After receiving a warm greeting from the Manager, while walking to our window table, my eye drifted to the 3 story wine tower owning it’s space like a Queen. Later on in the evening the lights came on illuminating the wine bottles within. Spectacular!
Osetra offers numerous elaborately decorated seating sections for private events. We sat in the main dining room adjacent to the bar area and wine tower.
It’s the little things that matter, you know the million little things that go into planning a menu or decorating a restaurant. When I walk into Osetera I notice so many of those little things that matter. The shiny red rocks inside the vase holding the long stem roses and how they contrast and are pleasing to the eye. How the color of the lights change inside the wine tower, drawing your attention. The carefully placed flower adorning your dish. It’s obvious a lot of thought goes into everything here.
They make you feel very well taken care of here. I enjoyed my dinner immensely and look forward to visiting again.
Exquisite fresh subtle Ahi flavor combined with ripe avocados ending with the wow punch of salmon caviar became the perfect bite upon a crostini. I ate the whole thing whilst sipping my rum & coke.
Al dente cooked ravioli surrounded tender expertly flavored lobster paired with vodka sauce and pesto just melts in your mouth. This is the finest lobster ravioli in my book.
For such a small desert it provides an enormous amount of chocolate goodness, enough to satisfy this chocolate lover. The silky smooth chocolate mousse is moulded to the outside of the cake firmly keeping it’s shape. Once you take a bite the inside moist cake layers are just a slice of heaven. Notice the small piece of dark chocolate on top? It has a gold pattern on it, pretty cool.

The magic of the cinema drew me and my brother downtown when I was a kid. We watched a bunch of movies at the Balboa theater a block away. They didn’t have a good food places downtown back then so we just watched our film and ate at home. Now there is just one theater left at Horton Plaza which is likely to close when they turn Horton Plaza into offices. There are lots of great places to eat though.

I love the way you described the food and it reminds me of the fun descriptive menu from Pomegranate! I’d totally order that Ahi tuna tartar and lobster ravioli! We haven’t picked out any restaurants yet for SDRW next week but I hope to visit 1-2 of them!
Good luck with your Restaurant Week choices! It’s hard to pick as each Restaurant offers a sampling of their best dishes. When I see the pictures of the food I’ve eaten while contemplating what to write, I’m inspired by the food all over again. Glad you enjoyed!
