Monterey Bay Aquarium opened in 1984 in what was a sardine cannery.
I visited with my kid in 2004. It was quieter back then.
The aquarium was the first to feature a living kelp forest.
Now huge crowds gather to watch things like sea otters eat.
The displays are much more elaborate.
Many more varieties of sea life to see.
There is an incredible view of Monterey Bay outside. That day like today it was raining and cold. We walked through Cannery Row. It was named in January 1958 to honor John Steinbeck. Last cannery closed in 1973.
Much has changed over the years. But this day we walked together and marveled at the wonders beneath the sea at Monterey Bay Aquarium as we did back in 2004.
