Redwood “Tree House” Studio in Aptos, CA

I was looking for a place to stay on our road trip to San Francisco and noticed we could rent a “Treehouse” in Aptos, CA.  I never had a tree house growing up and the idea was intriguing.  Maggie has been watching a lot of Treehouse Masters so she was up for it.  It was a lovely drive up the Highway 1 as you could see the ocean a good part of the drive.  Oaxaca Grill was our lunch stop.  Next door Rori’s Ice Cream provided dessert.  We stopped at Monterrey at the Crown and Anchor for dinner.  15 miles from Aptos I picked up fresh cherries from Barn Fresh Produce.  2 miles from the “tree house” I spotted Aptos St. BBQ.  We had dinner there the next day and the bbq was delicious.

Aptos has amazing lush vegetation.  I was impressed how much greenery was everywhere.  At the Airbnb there was a variety off vegetation ranging from redwoods to smaller trees and shrubs.
There were forest scents like at Muir Woods.  I loved waking up to the sounds of birds chirping in the distance.  In the evening I went to bed with the sound of wind rustling the leaves of the trees outside.  In the middle of the night I heard rain tapping against the skylight.  That morning I admired rain drops dripping from the leaves.  So many lovely shades of green.
View from our patio.

Our Airbnb host Laura was very responsive and helpful regarding any issues and questions.  An incredible perk was guest passes to Monterrey Aquarium.  Normal admission price was $50.  The aquarium had a huge variety of sealife and we spent an afternoon there.  Afterwards we visited Point Pinos Lighthouse.
It was awesome staying in a “treehouse” in a redwood forest.  There were many lovely sights and delicious food nearby.
