Through the rabbit hole
Caterpillar gives advice
See the white rabbit.
Breathe deep the delicious scents in the air. Smoky bbq is the strongest. I love the places that smoke/grill with wood. Then there are the fryer scents from Chicken Charlie’s and the fish and chip places. I love coming here each year to see the sights, smell the wonderful scents, and eat food I can’t get anywhere else. This year’s theme is Alice in Wonderland. Wonder what will be found through the rabbit hole…
We searched the fair but the Sparkletts water guy was nowhere to be found. It was my fav spot to get a drink.
Instead my fav fish and chip vendor was at the prime corner location.
Fried cod had a crunchy tempura batter and the fish was juicy. Very tasty. Reminds me of Mr. Fish & Chips. Fried zucchini had that same delicious crunchy batter. Zucchini was very juicy and had that zucchini flavor I love.
Chicken Charlie’s had some really awesome fried shrimp. Batter had a bit of crunch to it and the seasoning was delicious. Shrimp was perfectly cooked and juicy. French fries had delicious potato flavor. I also tried a bite of the fried cookie dough. Very sweet. A bite left me pretty thirsty.
Wandering about the food area I found a lobster shack with fried lobster on a stick. Flavor was very good but it was not as tender as the shrimp from Chicken Charlie’s. French fries had a crunchy exterior and pretty good flavor.
Lots of cool animals to look at and some you can pet near the entrance. We went to the petting area where you can buy animal feed for $1. If you don’t have any feed most of the animals will ignore you.
Lots of art to see. I concentrated on the photography. I was impressed seeing so many images cooler than what I have created.
I visited on the 2nd day and the flowers were lovely. I have visited near the end in years past and the flowers were doing poorly.
Sadly I didn’t get to ride on a double decker bus this year. Didn’t see any either. Still we had a great time. I’ve been visiting since I was a little kid and gotten my kid hooked at an early age. It’s great exercise walking around all day, going on rides, and taking breaks in the mini concert zones listening to the various music.

I missed that art gallery where the caterpillar was! I guess that’s my next spot if I make it to the fair again. we did get this cute postcard from TFG (big friendly giant) booth. are you interested in the free screening on Thursday? email me if you want it. I am attending a happy hour that day.
Lucky! I didn’t notice the free postcard. Are you going again? I got a $4 return ticket.
Great post Soo! I love the animal photos. I guess $1 for the feed isn’t too horrible considering a lobster roll is $22 at that shack. Did you see any other fried zucchini options? I saw the pic of Chicken Charlie and it says zucchini curls? Have you tried those?
Thanks! The animals were cute! The $1 was a bargain compared to all the human food I bought. Chicken Charlie’s has zucchini curls. I’m gonna try them next time. The batter they use on the shrimp taste great! Hope they use that same batter on the zucchini.
Love the view from the Skyride pictures! The napping pigs are sooo cute!
The fair is alot of fun! 🙂
