We start the day at Lai Hong Lounge. It’s my fav spot to get baked char siu bao.
The sweet pastry outside is a bit like the best concha I’ve ever had. The top is a sweet sugary crust.
The bits of char siu inside are tender, lean, and delicious. Sweet and savory flavors combine into something so delicious sometimes I’ll just eat an entire order of 3.
We went in the morning before the big lunch crowd filled the place up. Then we drove towards the Golden Gate Bridge.
We decided to visit the Golden Gate bridge July 2 to avoid the craziness on the 4th. Traffic and parking was still bad.
Every time I visit San Francisco I look forward to seeing the bridge since that first time back in the 70’s. Sometimes it’s covered in fog. Sometimes it’s gleaming in the bright sun. I’ve seen the lovely bridge many times from a distance but rarely walked on it.
You can walk across on one side while bikers get the other side.
Love the reddish color they use on the bridge. Reminds me of redwood trees.
I use to walk by the Palace of Fine Arts every visit when the Exploratorium was next to it. Inside the Exploratorium was where I taught my kid to connect batteries in parallel to make her light brighter and her fan spin faster. There were other cool science experiments we did in there too…
Time for the wedding of my mom’s sister’s son’s daughters wedding.
The appetizers served before the ceremony were great! Shrimp was plump, juicy and had delicious shrimp and bacon flavor.
Pork belly had a good crunch and flavor. Apple bits gave it a bit of sweetness and juice. I liked the mix of flavors.
Just married!
Lovely floral arrangement at our table.
Ribeye roast was tender, juicy, and full of beefy flavor. It was a big chunk of meat. 🙂
It was an awesome evening at the Julia Morgan Ballroom. Very elegant venue with open bar. Saw lots of relatives I never see and the party went on into the night. 🙂

Beautiful photo of the baked char siu boa, makes me want to go get another one! Love the close up angled towards the sky of the Golden Gate Bridge! Brrr, we look so cold! Cool how you captured the bird flying by the bridge! Looking forward to seeing your Mother’s sister on the next visit.
Thanks! I love looking at the sky. It was actually a plane flying over the bridge. She is very nice!
Do they offer those type of sugary baked pork buns here in SD? Usually it’s just a sugar glaze on those buns. My sis and I could probably eat three of those too. The pictures of the bridge are beautiful. I smiled when I saw the girls wearing masks – how was the air pollution on the bridge?
Congrats on the family wedding. The bride looked beautiful in her dress.
I’ve never see that type of baked pork bun in SD. I’d go all the time if I did!
The air pollution on the bridge is about the same as walking down Mira Mesa Blvd at 5pm.
Thanks! It was a great dress!
