Hot. Burning. Tongue on fire. Face and chest sweating in below 70F weather. I do my best to avoid spicy food but this innocuous looking chicken pot pie did me in. Lucky I had some emergency candy on my desk to save myself. There was a lot to like about this pie. Crust was crunchy and had a nice light buttery flavor. Roasted free range chicken was tender and had savory flavors I really liked. I noticed white and dark meat. Carrots were tender and delicious. Gravy was plentiful but tasted spicier than I prefer. The other thing I didn’t like was the cartilage and bones attached to the chicken. I asked the waiter and he asked the cook and I was told that while they try to remove them it’s to be expected as they use the whole chicken. It’s the first time I’ve had a chicken pot pie with bones and cartilage.

The chicken sausage was better. I liked the flavor. Pure savory chicken.
Onion rings were crunchy and had delicious onion flavor. I liked the light beer batter. Better than any fast food onion rings I’ve tried.
French fries had nice potato flavor. They were like ones I make at home. 🙂
Stone roasted chicken wings had a nice seasoning salt flavor. I watched them cook in the open flame oven. Pretty good but I prefer them southern fried.
Cinnamon roll with walnuts had a bit of sweetness from the sugar glaze and a bit of cinnamon flavor.

My quest for the ultimate chicken pot pie continues. Chicken pot pie here would be great for people who like some heat and spice to their food. I prefer the more mild flavors of the chicken pot pie at Marie Calender’s or the Chicken Pie Shop. Chicken sausage and the onion rings are my fav items here.

We recently visited for brunch! The location is nice and spacious. I love chicken pot pie but never had/found bones in the pie. Wonder if they do that to also put more flavor in the pot pie? I enjoyed the donut we got there. Made me miss Donut Bar at the LJ Farmers Market 🙁
I never found bones in a chicken pie till I tried the Streetcar pie. It’s strange they would leave them as some kid could swallow them. I suppose you would get more chicken flavor if you were making soup…
You like these dense donuts? I prefer the fluffy yeast based ones. Have you been going the LJ Farmers Market lately? I miss donut bar but I like getting bbq and strawberries.
