If I lay here
If I just lay here
Would you lie with me
And just forget the world?
Snow Patrol – Chasing Cars
Driving down the freeway you can see them. Splashes of color giving a respite from the roads and buildings. I wish the Tecolote® Giant Ranunculus grew year round but it’s just March – May the hillside is covered in glorious colors.
As you get closer you can see the color of each flower. Some of them have a light floral scent. All are soft as velvet. At the upper edge of the flower fields are benches. I sit admiring the sights and scents of the field. The sun slowly sets into the sea and the sky is ablaze with colors mirroring those of the flowers.
As day turns to night we rejoin the Yelp party.
QUEL BORDEL! provided the music which was somewhat audible deep among the flower fields. There was a good variety of snacks to try.
Boudin SF is my fav source of sourdough bread. Nice aroma floats off the fluffy on the inside bread. Flavor is not too sour which I like as many sourdough breads are too sour for my liking. Reps were very kind letting us take home a huge sourdough bear. 🙂
Bon Pastry brought shortbread cookies dusted with powdered sugar. I love shortbread cookies from the store packed with preservatives. These fresh ones blew them away! I was amazed at how different the flavor between these fresh baked and packaged store bought was.
Cravory Cookies brought and assortment of cute little cookies. I tried a bunch in order to write a thorough review. Birthday Cake cookie tasted like a sugar cookie with sprinkles then I bite a piece of white chocolate which gave me a sweetness kick. My fav cookie! Salted caramel cream cookie had hints of salt among the sweetness. Nice mellow caramel flavor. Red velvet cookie was just like eating red velvet cake. White chocolate chip in the center gave this cookie a nice sweetness kick. Chocolate truffle cookie is full of different flavors of chocolate. I’d get chocolate overload if this cookie was bigger. Lemon bar cookie was full of lemon flavor and the experience was like eating a lemon bar. Rosemary balsamic cookie had a strong rosemary flavor. I usually season steak or pork chops with rosemary. Eating a rosemary flavored cookie was a nice surprise! White chocolate chip cookie had a good amount of chips making this a very sweet cookie.
Doggos Gus had bacon wrapped hot dogs. I was impressed by how soft and fluffy the buns were in contrast to the nice snap in each dog. The dog itself had flavor kinda like a Sabrette and the bacon flavor kicked my desire for another sample up a notch.
Gaia Gelato brought 3 flavors of gelato. The strawberry was full of strawberry flavor and had a tangy bite to it. The salted caramel on the other hand was full of sweetness.
Hello Betty Fish House brought fish tacos. Tortilla had a light mild flavor which did not distract from the fish. Fish was nicely marinated, moist, and tender.
PetitPot brought vanilla creamy custard. Sweet and full of vanilla flavor I dream of how awesome this desert would taste if I used a torch to turn it into a creme brulee…
I had a few helpings of Slater’s 50/50 burger. Their beef patty which is ground with bacon had a powerful savory flavor which was hard to resist.
As my food coma set in I said goodbye to my Yelp friends Olin, Natasha, and Ritchie. Thanks to Danny W, Sandra, and Natasha for the amazing evening with special thanks to Danny who selected me as the winner of a bottle of wine. Thanks to the vendors for the food and drinks. Thanks to the person who brought the nice donkey. Thanks to the Flower Fields for having us. Thanks to Maggie who wanted to lay with me among the flowers.
The Flower Fields is one of my favorite places to go to forget the world. Faye from Faye’s Fork was here too.

Lovely quote, beautiful pictures of the flowers and food! ❤️ Marvelous description about all the cookie flavors! Next visit we’ll have to bring a blanket. ?
Thanks! We are gonna need an invisibility cloak to so security won’t bust us for laying with the flowers.
Wonderful article. Breathtaking flowers pics. Good time, good foods, good friends!!! :))
Thanks Olin! Hope to see you at the next big Yelp event!
yay congrats on the win! the bread is cute. have you eaten it all yet? =P
It’s almost gone! 🙂
That was a fun event wasn’t it. I was grateful the lines for samples weren’t too bad. My favorite was the clam chowder from Bluewater. Congrats on the bread and wine win! The pictures of the sunset and dusk are beautiful.
Thanks! 🙂 My fav was the Cravory Birthday Cake cookies. I want to eat more of those cute sprinkle covered cookies. That event always conflicts me. Should I check out the lovely flowers and eat more snacks…
