Doc Burnstein’s Ice Cream Lab – San Luis Obispo

 

When I was a kid I really looked forward to other kid’s birthday parties.  Sometimes they had them at Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlours.  That was the only time I’d get to go and have ice cream and candy there.  Each birthday was spectacular.  Typically 2 employees would bring out a huge sundae for everyone to share in.  It was the fanciest I’d seen.  There were bananas, whipped cream, sprinkles, and cherries.  Doc Bernstein has a vibe like Farrell’s.

I went for the Unicorn Swirl which was white cake ice cream with pie pieces and strawberry.  As I liked all those things separately I thought I would like them combined.  White cake ice cream did have white cake flavor while the pie pieces and strawberry provided more delicious flavors.  Unicorn Swirl is a rich complex ice cream I really loved.  I also tried the vanilla which was rich, creamy, and full of vanilla flavor.  I took a look at their website and noticed in July they will have Root Beer Marble ice cream.  Wish I could try that.  Doc Bernstein has different flavors rotated every month.  I look forward to my next trip to San Luis Obisbo like I use to look forward to my classmates birthday parties.
