Note: This is one of our joint posts with both writers, so enjoy! This first portion is written by myself Maggie. The cannoli’s were by far the highlight of my evening.
Never been to a night market before, especially one at a high school. It was easy to find and we arrived early to plenty of parking available. There were approximately 13 food vendors and 7 non-food vendors set up at 5 PM. Got too full to try them all but made a valiant effort. The band Halides started up around 7 PM. Their enthusiasm and rhythm kept my foot tapping to the beat and brought a smile to my face. First dish was the chicken tikka masala curry with rice paired with a mango pineapple lemonade. Loved the curry, just wish it had more veggies. Noticed I could have ordered one with more veggies. Will next time!
The lemonade was very refreshing, I enjoyed the layers of flavor while sipping away. Next dish, the cannoli desert from Roma. The crust had just the right amount of crunch and the filling was delicately flavored with a bit of sweetness. Very tasty indeed. Lastly the barbecue buns from Momo Bing crepes. Super juicy, tender meat inside a white bun. Nice flavor combination.
This night market runs from June 1st to June 2nd 2018. 5 PM to 12 AM with free entry and parking. Vietca Do invited us to come visit this lovely event.

I don’t like standing in line in big crowds so I visited this Night Market before it was night. Place opened at 5pm and I showed up a bit before 6pm. This was the first SoCal Night Market so it wasn’t crowded early.
I started my food adventure with a Hawaiian Punch flavored ice at Kona Ice.
I was handed a cup of ice and proceeded to add my own syrup.
Flavor was sweet like Hawaiian Punch. Ice was mostly hard little bits of ice like a snow cone. I think this place makes good snow cones.
Gabina’s Cuisine Filipino Food & Catering had a nice selection of food and I tried the small pancit and lumpia.
I liked the flavor of the pancit but I prefer pancit with little pieces of chicken mixed in. If I eat here again I’ll order some meat to go with it.
Lumpia has a delicious thin crispy shell. I liked the flavors but would like a higher meat to shell ratio.
Wow Wow Hawaiian Lemonade had the best tasting item of the evening. I tried the mango pineapple lemonade which had little bits of fruit in it giving a sweet flavor explosion. Best lemonade I’ve had.
Momo Bing had an interesting menu with Chinese street crepes.
I wasn’t feeling that adventurous and opted for bbq pork buns.
Pastry part was just like at dim sum places I frequent with the mild/slightly sweet pastry.
Savory pork inside seemed more Filipino style than the red dyed bbq pork I usually get at dim sum places. Next visit I want to try the red bean buns.
Entertainment for the evening started with 3 dancers from Electric Synergy Gypsies performing a part of Alice In Wonderland.
Great dance performance!
Next up was the rock and roll band The Halides. They were skilled musicians but the music was a bit harder then I prefer.
It was cool visiting my first Night Market. There was delicious food and a variety of entertainment. Reminds me of carnival like after school events back in elementary school only better.
Yes! I’m looking forward to their next event. More vendors to learn about. Just wore my hat to keep the sun off.
The temperature was perfect, not too hot, not too cold.
my family was in town so we couldn’t make it this time. I wonder if it got much busier later! I believe the other night market event in convoy gets super crowded! the dancers are cute! 🙂
Nice cannoli! Looked like great weather too.

Correction “thatDOES IT!!! Now I need the

I know right? Not sure they would be willing to divulge their recipe. Maybe if were sworn to secrecy!
