Golden City is one of the places we like to go to celebrate things like birthdays. The menu has a lot of delicious options.
The family tried to make me feel guilty when the waitress brought out the live lobster for approval before cooking. It was my birthday celebration though and I wanted some lobster with ginger sauce. I had been dreaming about the delicious lobster for months. I love the way they cook the lobster.
The chef really brings out the unique flavor of fresh lobster with the accompanying flavor of ginger. So good. 🙂 The only other preparation close to this good is deep fried Puerto Nuevo style. 🙂
peking duck – crispy flavorful skin with tender delicious meat and round pieces of cha sui boa dough to make tacos
peking duck lettuce wraps – what wasn’t used to make the tacos was mixed up and placed on a lettuce wrapper, similar to a chicken lettuce wrap but I prefer the flavor of the duck
sizzling beef – this plate was hot, smoking, and spraying oil on the table, excellent show and flavor like mongolian beef
bbq pork fried rice – liked the flavor of the mix of ingredients especially the bbq pork
lamb hot pot – like the tofu like stuff and lamb
bbq pork pan fried noodles – delicious egg noodles topped with sauce, bbq pork was tender and full of flavor fresh baby bok choy was full of earthy flavor, one of my fav dishes
soy braised duck – taste a bit like chicken, loved the mix of flavors from the duck and soy sauce
mongolian beef – nice tender beef with spicy mongolian flavor
cod with chinese brocolli – tender, delicate cod had a delicious light flavor
I’ve been to Golden City lots of times and tried other dishes. It’s always been a good experience and parking is plentiful here.

We have been having birthday celebrations at Golden City; when I was there a few weeks ago, there were several UCSD graduation celebrations. The food is delicious and parking is easy!
Lucky! Golden City is one of my fav spots for Chinese food in San Diego.

Our secret place; under the radar and so good. We even had Thanksgiving lunch here a few years ago (duck two ways). A great place to bring friends and family.
