San Luis Obispo Botanical Garden / Part two of three

The Future Garden map is impressive in it’s ambition and sheer size, 150 acres! I’m looking forward to the day of completion! The 50 miles of walking trails including Trams would no doubt make the locals happy. Personally I’ll be inspecting the rare and endangered plants.

I never get tired of finding sunshine filtering through leaves with casting shadows.

Fuzzy bright orange blooms are stunning against the green leaves and stem.

We found this manmade small hut on our walk. It really provided loads of shade, quite impressive.

These are taken from the inside looking out.

So far this unique gem offers 4 acres of gardens, 3/4 mile hiking trail, 1 acre fire demonstration garden, boasts the largest Chilean wine palm grove outside of Chile, propagates thousands of drought-tolerant plants each year, hosts community member events and docent led tours.

Check out part one and stay tuned for part three coming soon. Hope you enjoyed all of the visual happiness!

  1. Great photos of the plants! I wonder when they are gonna start the expansion.

    1. Looks like they depend on fundraisers, events and volunteers to raise funds for the expansion. :>)

  2. More great pix!! Keep it up!!
Will be a fun visit as it expands!!
All they need is a restaurant!

    1. Yes it will be exciting to see them grow! The cafe’s sound promising. I do look forward to the tram ride, but I must admit I’ll be looking for wildlife. Perhaps we’ll see an elephant or giraffe? I’d settle for a flock of quail.
