Disneyland

It’s a world of laughter, a world of tears
It’s a world of hopes and a world of fears
There’s so much that we share
That it’s time we’re aware
It’s a small world after all
It’s a small world

My first time here we had to strategically plan which E ticket rides we wanted most to go on as our booklet had a finite number of tickets.  One of my favorite rides was the bright and shiny It’s A Small World.  I remember I had an awesome time and I got a Mickey Mouse balloon which was a balloon inside a balloon.

Sadly I was tired and the string slipped from my grasp.  I watched as it disappeared into the dark sky.

Now there are a ton more rides and people.  The old parking lot is gone.  Replaced by a huge parking structure.  It now takes about 15 minutes to drive near the top of the structure and come back down to get on the tram.
I was the guest of a Cast Member.

Admission has gone up to $135.  On this hot summer Sunday the lines were not bad.  Using the Fast Pass it took on average 10 minutes to get on rides.  The longest line was for It’s A Small World at around 30 minutes.

The magic and sense of wonder is still here.  I went on It’s A Small World and was happy hearing the cheerful song and seeing all the moving figures.  I noticed Woody from Toy Story has been added.  Also everything was new and shiny looking as the first time I went on this ride.
The Matterhorn is more frightening now with additional snow creatures and their growling is louder.  Fast, cool, and bumpy ride.
Pirates of The Caribbean has been updated with less smoke in the canon battle and the addition of Jack Sparrow.  Dark, cool, same great theme song.
The harder you turn the faster the tea cup spins.

Steve’s friends spin the tea cup wildly.

Mad Tea Party had pretty pastel tea cups in different colors to choose from.  You can relax and spin a little or grab the wheel in the center and spin madly.  My fellow riders teamed up to make for a mad ride.  The sky was still spinning when the ride ended.

Disneyland has been modernized but much remains the same.  It’s still the happiest place on earth.

  1. My favorite ride is, It’s a Small World too!

    1. You have excellent taste!

  2. How was the food!
Your photos were so nostalgic for me. I have such fond memories of Disneyland with my family. I cannot even fathom the entrance fee now. Or the fast pass – does that cost extra?

    1. The food was ok. I’ll post about the food next.

That’s great it’s your happy place too!

It’s $135 per adult and fast pass is included. I think it’s cheaper than a full day at the spa…

  3. hubby went to disneyland for a friend’s bachelor party. they also used fast pass and hardly had to wait in lines. sounds like the way i’d do it next time we go up! glad you had some fun that day!

    1. We did avoid a bunch of lines with the Fast Pass but there were some rides that we waited a long time. At It’s A Small World it appeared to be a short line but then we got in it and so a huge section of the line we missed. We were too tired to get a Fast Pass and then wait for the pass time.

Good place for a bachelor party!
