I visited a few times when this place was called Cape Town. I meant to try it when it turned into Malted Diner but it closed a week before I planned a visit. Inside it looks like they reused the tables and chairs from Cape Town.
Our waitress/hostess and the rest of the staff provided good service. Our food come out after a short wait and my soda water was refilled when empty.
Lumpia Shanghai had a crispy outer shell and the beef and pork filling was plentiful and juicy. I loved the mix of flavors.
Pancit Bijon was very moist and fully of vegetables and various meats. Shrimp and chicken needed to be seasoned more as they were lacking in flavor. Chinese sausage was full of flavor and my favorite part of this dish. Overall I’d prefer less vegetables and more pepper and soy sauce.
Lechon Kawali had some perfectly cooked pieces and some dried out hard to eat pieces. Loved the flavor of perfectly cooked pieces which had crunchy skin, flavorful meat, and juicy fat.
I haven’t found any good Filipino spots in the UTC area so I was happy Sarap Filipino Kitchen opened. I hope Sarap last longer than it’s predecessors.
Kirk of mmm-yoso visited too.

Really loved the Lechon Kawali dipped in the sauce! Hope this place survives and people stop by for lunch or on their way home from work.
We will have to keep eating there to help out.
Actually loved the sauce more than the lechon kawale Soo…..except that they provided too little of it. Thanks for the mention.
You are welcome Kirk! I’ll have to try the sauce on the dry pieces next time.
I want to try this place so bad but her heard the service is terrible. Glad your experience was nice. I always order soda water but have been charged for it at some places 🙁
Service was good when we visited. I always ask about the soda water. If they charge I just get regular water. Sometimes the waiter just gives it to me when they are suppose to charge.
I went here with my book club about a month ago. Enjoyed the lumpia and the pork skewer things. Some of the other more traditional things are not to my tastes but also quite new to me… there was a really smokey peanut dish that I couldn’t really eat!
That’s great your book club meets and eats at cool places.
