Easter Sunday we drove to Fat Ivor’s in Valley Center with our friends Liang and Lisa. I enjoyed seeing the countryside with wildflowers in bloom and the greenery. It’s nice getting away from the freeways and skyscrapers.
I notice Fat Ivor’s has a new sign. You can see the old sign on my last post.
Inside it’s mostly the same and the wait staff is still very friendly.
Normally I go for the broasted chicken or ribs but this time I try something different. Blooming onion had strong onion flavor with some nice flavors from the light batter. Among the best I’ve had.
Albondigas soup had tender meatballs in a nicely seasoned broth. This is one of my favorite albondigas soups.
Steak fries had a crispy outer layer and fluffy inner layer full of potato goodness. These are some of the best steak fries I’ve had.
Fried trout had a light batter with flavors much like the blooming onion. Trout had that unique fresh trout flavor. Normally I go to Red Lobster and get the grilled trout. Fried trout is a tasty alternative to grilled.
Fat Ivor’s really filled me up. Afterwards we went on a search for fresh strawberries. The nice waitress suggested we find the strawberry lady in front of nearby Lilac Foods.

Loved their meatball soup! It’s always hard to decide what to order since everything is so good. The new sign is cool with vibrant colors.
I think I’ll go for the fried chicken next time. 🙂
