This is one of our rare joint posts. First portion written by myself, Maggie.
We came here for Restaurant week anticipating a great meal. Not only was the meal remarkable, I found a new entree I’d like to order again. As always I admired Greystone’s gorgeous interior decoration as we climbed the stairs leading to our seat beneath the upstairs skylight.
Today I thought I’d be adventurous and order the bison tenderloin. Turned out to be an excellent decision as the bison was tender, mouthwatering and matched nicely with the poached pear, fig port reduction and risotto cake. Needless to say I finished the entire plate. My portobello mushroom was cooked to perfection and included layers of artichoke, gorgonzola, spinach, bell pepper tomatoes and béchamel sauce. Each bite more magnificent than the last. The rough draft amber ale I ordered tasted very smooth with subtle hints of caramel and chocolate. Not too rich or strong, it was just superb.
If you prefer wine the list is extensive and boasts wines from around the world. They have received the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for 19 consecutive years.
For dessert the NY cheesecake sounded good. It was a bit hard and cold on the inside I think from just being in the refrigerator. The not so cold parts were rich, dense with mild cheesecake flavor. I just let it kinda melt in my mouth. Gosh and somebody ate the whole thing!
I’d recommend this place for spoiling your family and or loved ones. The staff is very cordial, helpful and welcoming.
For those of you needing a parking place go to Horton Plaza parking garage. Greystone will validate your ticket so it will only be $8.00. Such a deal. Or if like to shop at Jimbo’s after your meal, they will validate your ticket as well.

Once again it’s Restaurant Week. I look forward to trying expensive spots I don’t normally frequent. This year we visited Greystone Prime Steakhouse & Seafood. On the walk over we noticed Horton Plaza has only Macy’s and Jimbo’s open. Greystone though has been going strong since 1999.
Inside there is an art deco theme reflecting the building’s history as it was once a movie theatre. Very nice.
The Restaurant Week menu offered 3 courses for $50. I added the lobster tail which was another $16.
Meal started with Italian bread. Texture was like a French baguette while the flavor was like a cross between sourdough and French baguette. I liked the flavor.
First course was wild boar sausage. Casing had a nice snap while the sausage had a rich earthy savory flavor.
Second course was the petite filet.
Beef was a Prime cut and dry aged for 21 days. Minimally seasoned with salt and a tiny amount of pepper the flavor of the beef really came through.
Cooked just the way I like it with a pink center and a nice char on the outside the filet was extremely tender and delicious.
Second course add on was the lobster tail. Lobster was tender and moist minimally seasoned I enjoyed the delicious lobster flavor.
Third course was limoncello sponge cake. Lovely how the cake was plated with sweet strawberries. Cake was moist and fluffy with a strong lemon flavor while the frosting added sweetness with additional lemon flavor.
Staff was nice and provided excellent service.
Looks like a great meal for you two! Are you going anywhere else when SDRW rolls around? We tried the pork dish here and it was quite delicious! Lots of meat on that dish, Soo! Apps and entrees were wonderful but I thought desserts were a bit plain as a finisher. But we don’t come to a place like this for the sweets! 😉
Did you try any wine or beer? Glad you liked your pork dish. Not sure if we are going to try out any additional places for restaurant week. It’s hard to top this one!
Gotta go there!
Yes I think you would love the wine!
What a fun date night! This is a nice steakhouse for sure. You don’t like sauces for your steak?
This place is just fabulous! I loved the sauces for my bison.
