Serea Coastal Cuisine / 1500 Orange Ave. Coronado, CA 92118

Well hello there! This is a joint post, first portion below is written by Maggie.

Let me just start out by saying this location is just absolutely perfect! The ocean air, the sound of the surf, the iconic Hotel Del in the background, what more could you ask for?

Hotel entrance where you can valet park.

A large portion of their seating is outside with heaters that look like fancy lamps and a fireplace in case you get chilly.

We were greeted by the lovely hostess, walked to our table by the manager who explained how their menu works. Inside they have a fresh fish display on ice. If you’d like to order a whole fish this is where you would choose your fish. Once it’s prepared they do an elaborate visual display at your table. Sounds great for groups of people! They are wonderful at making you feel very welcome.

Our waiter Brett was very knowledgeable about the menu and answered all of our questions. I’m impressed he keeps a small notebook of important menu info. Plus Brett made our experience very enjoyable.

The food here is phenomenal and I found something to love in each dish. My appetizer was the halibut ceviche. It included cucumber, avocado, limon, coconut, agave pickled Serrano and spring onion. The marinade was so addicting I soaked it up with the crunchy pita it came with.

My main dish was the swordfish. It included eggplant, golden raisin, mint and fire roasted babaganoush. The swordfish was tender and I took each bite with a bit of the babaganoush and eggplant salad. Just melted in my mouth with layers of fabulous flavors.

For dessert I had the yogurt cheesecake with pistachio, pine nuts and sliced strawberries. I usually prefer just plain cheesecake because it’s not as sweet as the amped up versions. Not a problem here! The yogurt paired with the nuts really just added welcome flavors to the cheesecake.

This is just a great spot for celebrating any occasion or just hanging out with your favorite people. It is hard to leave though since the view is so spectacular.

I breathe deep the fresh sea air.  I love the fresh salty scent.    I enjoy the view as we are seated outside.
I relax to the sound of the wind blowing through the palm trees.
Serea Coastal Cuisine is steps away from Coronado beach.
Decor is clean and modern.
Striped bass
Very cool fish display inside where you can pick the fish for your dinner.
First course is the grilled lamb ribs.  Very tender and juicy.  Distinct lamb flavor blended with spices which remind me of some of my favorite Mediterranean dishes.  Delicious.
Second course is local caught swordfish.  Texture was firmer than fresh cod but tender enough to melt in your mouth.  Fresh unique swordfish flavor was delicious.
Third course was a dessert named Pearl Diver.  This is one of the most beautiful desserts I’ve ever seen.  First I noticed the white chocolate clamshell.  Inside was pineapple pound cake with coconut cream on top surrounded by a tropical fruit salsa.  The mix of flavors sent my tastebuds into overload.  Very decadent and delicious.  This was a huge dessert and more than enough for 2 – 3 people thus the $30 price.
Our waiter Brett provided excellent service.  The ambiance was among the best.  Awesome place to enjoy a sunset and a meal.  Thanks for the awesome Yelp Elite Week event Brad and Thanks to Serea Coastal Cusine for having us.
