Yelp’s Fright At The Museum – 2019

Golden Girls in line to enter the event.
Each year I look forward to the Yelp museum event for Halloween.

Brad and Maggie.
There are lots of treats to sample and creative costumes to see.
Cravory Cookies brought an assortment of sample size cookies.
Rosemary balsamic cookie was soft and had a fresh rosemary flavor and a bit of sweetness.
Red velvet cookie was soft and had that distinctive red velvet flavor.
Birthday cake cookie was soft and filled with delicious sugar sprinkles giving it nice sweet flavor.
Lemon bar cookie was soft and filled with lemon tartness.
Ultimate chocolate chip cookies were full of chocolate flavor.
All the cookies were delicious but the birthday cake cookie was my favorite as I have a weakness for sugar cookies and the birthday cake was the closest.
Da Kine brought kalua pork.  Liked the contrast in textures between the crunchy cabbage and the tender melt in your mouth pork.
Loved the smoky and salty flavor mixed with cabbage flavor.

Donut Bar brought trays of donuts.  Cake donut was dense with delicious cake batter flavor and a sweet glaze on top.  I also tried the pumpkin donut which was full of pumpkin flavor.

Friendly witches serving up treats.

Gelato Paradiso brought a selection of gelato.
Mango Sorbetta was cold, creamy, with rich fruity mango flavor.
Pistachio was rich, creamy, with a nutty pistachio flavor.
Salted Caramel had a rich sweet caramel flavor with a hint of salt.  I loved trying each flavor but the fresh fruity mango was my favorite.  It’s hard picking a good ripe mango but Gelato Paradiso did a great job.
Kennedy’s brought carnitas tacos.  Fresh corn tortilla nicely complimented the tender carnitas.
Loved the flavor from the juicy carnitas.
Luche Libre brought pork tacos.
Tender juicy pork had delicious flavor and went well with mild corn tortilla.
Shawarma Guy brought beef, chicken and vegan shawarma.
The chicken shawarma was tender and full of flavor which nicely complimented the mild flavored rice.  I love their food truck and usually get the very tender Wagyu beef shawarma.
Smoking Gun brought lemon-peppered chicken drummettes.
Drummette was nicely marinated.  I liked the combination of flavors from the lemon, pepper, and char.  Chicken was tender and moist.
In addition to the huge variety of alcoholic drinks they also served my favorite mineral water Topo Chico.  Nice crisp refreshing flavor with a slight bite.

After I was done sampling the food I admired the relics from our aviation history.  Sleek flying machines hung from the ceiling and in display cases.  Late into the evening there is an eerie feeling as the exhibition area is devoid of inhabitants except the ghosts.  Perfect venue for a Halloween party.
Thanks to San Diego Air & Space Museum, Brad, Danny, Ryan, Sandra, and all the generous vendors who hosted this spooky event.

  1. Great pictures of all the costumes! Such a fun event!

    1. Yes it was lots of fun. 🙂

  2. Nice recap! I like those chicken drumlettes from smoking gun. Did you eat enough food that night? Seemed like lots of desserts! Maybe I’ll get to go again one year if they open up to normal yelpers haha.

    1. Thanks! I ate more dessert as the line was really short for dessert at the beginning. There was lots of food if you were willing to wait in line. I have a feeling there are too many elites now. That’s why they didn’t let regular yelpers register.
