Snow was falling as I visited Darbi’s Cafe. Warm inside. Didn’t need 2 layers of jackets any more.
Elves were bustling about. 1 more day till Christmas.
Friendly elf pointed me to the unlimited soup bar.
I tried the chicken noodle soup. Delicious chicken soup aroma. Noodles had a mild flavor which added a nice flavor dimension. Chicken was tender with rich chicken flavor. Broth was full of flavor but there was a bit more pepper than I’d prefer.
French fries were crispy with a delicious seasoned potato flavor. Turkey pot pie was topped with a puff pastry that had a nice mild buttery flavor.
Inside was a ton of peas, some carrots, and tender turkey. Great tasting pie.
There is a warning that you get a ton of food here. They aren’t kidding as I wasn’t able to eat all my fries. Meals are large dinner size and expect leftovers unless you prep yourself for going to a buffet.
2nd Visit I tried the fried catfish with onion rings. Onion rings were coated in a crunchy beer batter. Loved the mix of flavors from the sweet onions and the salty beer batter. Fried catfish was coated with corn meal which gave a bit of crunch which contrasted the delicate catfish. Catfish was delicious but the due to the thin filet the ratio of batter to catfish was higher then I prefer.
I love visiting Pinetop in the winter as there is a good chance of seeing snow. Darbi’s Cafe is my fav spot to eat. One of these days I’ll have to stop by an try one of their baked treats. I never have room after a meal. So far my favorite dish is the fried chicken.
