El Centro has lots of wide open spaces and 1 story buildings. San Diego was like this back when I was little. I like how sky scrapers haven’t taken over the sky line.
Ma Lupe’s reminds me of those old days. It’s not fancy inside like a Chipotle. Its more like visiting someone’s home. I like the decor.
Every table is covered with a different photo. 2 windows were painted for the holidays.
My favorite was the snow family.
When I was a kid there were many family owned businesses that painted their windows to celebrate the holidays. Now not so much. Lady managing the front of the house was very nice like my aunt.
I sampled the horchata. Fresh sweet rice milk and cinnamon flavor. I’ll have to order my own next time.
Chips had a fresh corn flavor and very crunchy.
Chicken street taco came with flour tortilla. They make their own tortillas here. Nice fresh mild tortilla flavor. Chicken was plentiful, tender, and had a delicious flavor.
Carne Asada street taco on a corn tortilla had lots to tender beef. Nice marinated beef. Corn tortilla was my favorite and had a fresh corn flavor.
Al Pastor street taco came on a corn tortilla. Pork was tender and had a nice savory flavor.
Three street tacos were perfect for a good lunch size meal. I loved all three but the al pastor was my favorite with the carne asada taco being my second favorite.
Ma Lupe’s was a delicious spot to stop on our road trip to Pinetop Arizona for Christmas. Thanks to my Yelp friend Jay K. for recommending this place. I liked seeing the way things were once upon a time.

Nice find! Were the chips complimentary? I like when tacos are served on flour tortillas. I like Jay’s reviews and was happy to see him featured.
Thanks! Jay is a great writer! You would love Ma Lupe’s as she lets you choose what kind of tortilla you get. The chips were complimentary.
Loved the Christmas decorations!
They did a great job decorating!
