Visiting AJ Spurs is like visiting the old west.
Lots of dead stuffed animals and rusted old metal.
I like the look.
Looking at the menu online I was a bit scared of how much food comes with each meal.
All dinners include A.J.’s Hearty Vaquero Soup, Tequila Beans, Homemade Salsa (yep, mix’em all together), Garden Salad, A.J.’s Spuds, Rice Pilaf, French Garlic Bread and your choice of an Old-Fashioned Root Beer Float or an After-Dinner Liqueur. Maggie agreed to eat everything except the ribs + the root beer float.
I really enjoyed the decor but I would prefer an option to order just meat. You get enough food for 3 people with 1 meal as Maggie couldn’t eat all the extra’s while I was unable to eat all my ribs as I had to save room for the root beer float. There was a $6.50 split plate charge as the waiter brought out an extra plate for Maggie. I wouldn’t come here again as I could get full at In N Out, KFC or Popeyes for what they are charging for use of a plate. Also while the ribs are not bad I prefer the Santa Maria style bbq ribs at the Hitching Post II which is a 2 minute walk down the road.

The soup was really a meal in itself. The steamed veggies could have been much better with some melted cheese on top. The Taxidermist sure did an excellent job making the animals look lifelike.
It’s a great spot to view stuffed animals.
Loved the soup would like to purchase the laddle meal was excellent
That’s cool you loved your meal there.
