Mardi Gras is French for “Fat Tuesday”, reflecting the practice of the last night of eating rich, fatty foods before the ritual fasting of the Lenten season.

LouZiana Food is where I went for my early Mardi Gras celebration.
I ordered the fried catfish and shrimp plate. Catfish, shrimp, and fries are coated with their cajun seasoning.
It’s spicier than using just salt. Catfish has a crunchy and spicy batter which adds a nice flavor to the catfish flavor. Shrimp had a nice mix of shrimp flavor and cajun seasoning flavor. Fries were crispy with a mix of potato and cajun flavors.
Abita root beer had a sweet flavor and that unique root beer flavor. Solid root beer. Not as much bite as Barq’s.
Beignets are made to order and I asked for them to be made after I finished my meal. They came hot out of the fryer. Beignets have a crispy outer layer while the inside is croissant like. Flavor a bit like a donut which is greatly improved with some sweetness from the powdered sugar. Taste awesome right out of the fryer.
Owner and staff provided great LouZiana hospitality.
