I walked through the heart of the cute Danish town Solvang and found Viking Garden Restaurant next to a windmill.
I was surprised to see Death Valley root beer on tap.
Nice sweet vanilla flavor with birch root undertones. I like how smooth it goes down. Last week I had a Stewart’s root beer and it had too much bite for my taste. I’m gonna keep my eye out for bottles of this delicious Death Valley root beer.
I started with an appetizer plate of sausage to try out the various kinds. Kielbasa was full of flavor from various spices coarsely ground blend of pork and beef. Swiss Bratwurst had milder flavors than the Kielbasa. Delicately spiced and textured white sausage made with tender lean veal. German Knockwurst was mild, finely ground, hardwood smoked pork & beef sausage. Spicy Sicilian was the spiciest made with fresh chicken meat, garlic, red Italian wine.
Honey stung fried chicken had a very crunchy batter with hints of sweet honey. I loved the mix of sweet and savory flavors in the tender chicken. French fries were crispy and full of potato flavor.
Next time I visit Solvang I’m going to have to do more exploring around the windmills.
