Chicks Natural was one of the original businesses from when this mall first opened 31 years ago. I biked over to explore when I lived in Mira Mesa. When I first moved to Mira Mesa Mira Mesa Blvd ended at Parkdale and this area was barren mesa with a few vernal pools. I explored the wilderness on my bike and it was much harder getting to this area. When Mira Mesa Blvd was built out the ride was easy. This mall was so shiny and clean back then. Now things have been faded by the sun and I notice Staples is now closed.
I visited at 11am to avoid the lunch line. My plan worked perfectly as there was only one person there.
I ordered a whole chicken for $16. Chicken had a fresh aroma. Tender, juicy, and full of flavor. Flavor profile leaned a bit towards the Mediterranean. Very good tasting chicken.
The guy in charge got my order out quick. This place is nice for when I want a different flavor profile than Costco chicken or El Pollo Loco.

The chicken looks very yummy!
You liked it when you ate some.
I tried them for the first time this year. There’s a Paleo(?) bowl or similar that has sweet potato (instead of rice) which I think is cooked so perfect! Also one time we had added jalapeno(?) cornbread as a side and that too was yummy. Chicken is usually decent there. I’ve had sure juicy and slightly drier versions.
I am a fan of their chicken. The sides are too healthy for me.
I was going to ask how they compared to Costco and EPL as well! I saw their banner in Sorrento few weeks ago and wondered where they were located. Friend said in the same center as Staples which is odd as I’ve never seen or recognized them there before! I would visit to support their 30y in business. Do they offer any type of sauces for their chicken? $16 seems high but I think that’s what EPL is charging these days without a coupon. What is the price of Costco’s rotisserie chicken now?
I get Costco chicken alot as it’s $4.99. Flavor is delicious salt based. When I get burned out I’ll go to El Pollo Loco for their Mexican style or Chicks Natural for the Mediterranean flavors.
I don’t know anything about sauces as I think the chicken taste great as is. You should go try it as $16 isn’t that expensive for a restaurant chicken. Costco is in a class all it’s own.
