I love lechon kawali but it’s hard finding places that are good at making it.
I had a bad feeling as I was looking at the options at Mama Cinia’s.
The tray of lechon kawali was dark brown colored and looked overcooked. I had my heart set on having lechon kawali so I ordered it despite my misgivings. Turns out I was right.
The skin was hard and chewy. I tossed it. The meat was mostly dried and was barely edible.
I ordered the 2 item combo with pancit, wings and lechon kawali. Wings had a crunchy batter and I liked the flavor of the seasoning.
Wings were warm from the warming tray. Pretty good. Wings might taste great if one could get them hot out of the fryer. Pancit was fresh and moist. Heavy pepper flavor. Pretty good.
So far Max’s Restaurant is my favorite spot in Mira Mesa to get lechon kawali. I wouldn’t try it here again unless it had a light golden color.
I visited this mall alot in the old days when I had a paper route and Black Mountain Bicycles kept my bike running. Bob’s Big Boy was the only eatery back then. Lot more places to eat around here now.

Bummer about the lechon kawali. At least the wings were okay.
Good lechon kawaii is hard to find.
Not a fan of the lechon kawale at Mama Cinia’s Soo. Though it does better in the sisig.
Did they serve you dried out lechon kawali too Kirk?
Yes Soo….twice…..not going for a “third strike”
You are wise. I’ll probably go to R & B Filipino Cuisine next time.
