When I was little I went on long walks with my mom to the nearby fabric store. She let me choose fabric with which my mom would sew shirts for me. She would choose fabrics for her own clothes as well. In those days there were fabric stores all over town.
These days there are fewer and fewer fabric stores. This Yardage Town currently has a 50% off going out of business sale. I read in the UT all the Yardage Towns are closing this year.
It’s the end of an era. I will miss walking down the isles of fabric, seeing the cool designs, and feeling the soft fabric. So many different colors of thread to choose from. I feel a sense of loss as fabrics stores fade into history. Now I patiently wait for the next computer conference where I can expand my wardrobe with more free t-shirts from Splunk or HP.

It’s sad they are closing. I’ve bought a whole lot of fabric from them over the years. It’s just not the same buying fabric online as you can’t touch it or smell that new fabric smell.
