Carlsbad Danish Bakery

One of my favorite parts of going on road trips up the coast is stopping by Solvang and getting treats at the Danish bakeries. I was excited to see there is a Danish bakery in San Diego.

I drove to Carlsbad a few times to try out their treats.

Apple strudel had a crunchy shell which was a mix of buttery goodness with some sweetness from the sugar crystals on top. Inside was a decadent apple filling. Mix of sweetness and apple flavors. Great tasting strudel.

Almond croissant was mostly crunchy with a soft center. Lots of almond flavor. Unusual croissant as I’m use to them been light and fluffy inside. This one was dense. I enjoyed it.

Lemon coconut muffin was a unique blend of flavors. Cake part had a distinct lemon flavor while pieces of coconut provided some coconut flavor. Very good tasting muffin!

Butter croissant had a crunchy outer layer with soft buttery goodness inside. Going on my list of favorite croissants.
Cinnamon danish was warm from the oven. Soft with fresh baked aroma. Icing gave this treat sweetness and streaks of cinnamon provided cinnamon flavor. One of the best cinnamon danish I’ve found.

Apricot danish had a crunchy outer layer with a buttery inside part and sweet apricot glaze on top.
Krinkle was crunchy with lots of almond slices giving bold almond flavor.

Rainbow bar was a dense 3 layer almond cake. Very sweet with a strong almond flavor.

Carlsbad Danish Bakery has some great tasting treats and the 2 owners were very nice. The one thing I still miss from the Solvang bakeries are the tubs of Danish butter cookies. They taste so much better than the tins you find at grocery stores.
