Each year I look forward to going to Costco for Valentines Day. Each year I see ladies behind the plastic partition dipping fresh strawberries in chocolate. Mix of flavors from the fresh strawberries and chocolate was heavenly.
The ladies and the chocolate covered strawberries are usually stationed near the front entrance so you can’t miss them. As I entered my heart raced as I neared the spot the chocolate covered strawberries awaited. My excitement turned to resignation as I noticed the chocolate covered strawberry station was nowhere to be seen and instead there were some cookies, cakes, and flowers. I searched the store but came up empty.
I did buy mochi ice cream to cheer me up.
This was on Monday.
On Thursday chocolate covered strawberries appeared in the display case next to the other Valentines Day goodies.
This year they shortened the chocolate covered strawberry season and cut the show. I miss seeing the workers dipping the strawberries. Something essential is missing this Valentines Day much like the disappointment I felt getting takeout at Benihana. Sometimes I enjoy the journey as much as the destination.
The flowers sure are pretty!
