Smoky scent was intoxicating.
Juices were dripping. Warmth filled my mouth. Flavors so delicious I couldn’t stop till the 4th time. Adobada was juicy and full of delicious flavor from the marinade and the light char. Double corn tortillas had a little bit of char and delicious corn flavor.
These are my all time favorite adobada tacos. Many spots I’ve tried make their adobada too hot or spicy. Tacos El Gordo adobada is neither hot nor spicy but instead the spices result in delicious savory flavors with a bit of sweetness like char sui.
Back in the old days. I visited Tacos El Gordo El Cajon many times. Lines were short late in the evening with plentiful parking, and the tacos delicious. I was sad they closed. I visited the H St location once but the parking lot was too small so you wait for a parking spot as well as waiting in line for tacos.
I was excited to try the latest Tacos El Gordo on Broadway. They have a large parking lot and lots of seating.
There was a long line Sunday at 2pm before the apocalypse.
I ordered 5 adoabada tacos as I didn’t want to under order and have to go through the line again. The 5 wound up being the perfect amount for a large dinner.
I remember the line for adobada fries was much shorter than the others. Seems like a very long time ago. I do miss their food.
We should go and get some Adobada fries!
