This was my first visit to Ember & Rye with chef Richard Blais at the helm. Such a touching tribute to name the place after his daughters Ember & Riley.
We came here for lunch to celebrate my 54th birthday. I’ve discovered age really is just a number, it’s all about how you feel inside. I’m humbled, left ever hopeful by the effervescent mindset of my parents.
I’ve been here before when it was Argyle, so I knew the view and seating area would be excellent. We sat outside under the welcoming shade of an umbrella with a view of the lovely golf course.
The menu options all sounded wonderful making it hard to choose. The swordfish prime rib with squash was my decision and my taste buds were very happy indeed! The last time I had a decently prepared swordfish was in Hawaii many years ago. It is difficult to get just right as it has a tendency to be dry. This swordfish was moist, with a nice char, infused with garlic, black lime and black pepper, just magnificent. Paired with the squash and feta mint, including the delicate citrus yogurt sauce on top I was in heaven. Wish I could eat here everyday!
Thanks everyone at Ember & Rye for making my birthday very special.
The swordfish and dessert was awesome! Wish they still had popovers.
Perhaps they will consider adding it to the menu once again if enough people ask for it.
How delicious and happy belated birthday to you!
Thanks Joy!
