I remember this space. In the old days a Marie Callender’s was here. It was one of my favorite spots to get a chicken pot pie. I guess not enough people love chicken pot pie. I have returned as I was invited to the grand opening of CA Fish Grill. Nice employee outside checked me off the guest list.
I got to try one entree and a drink.
Giant shrimp sounded good. Presentation was interesting with the shell on but split open. Shrimp were good sized plump and tender. I asked for seasoned olive oil as the sauce. Loved the seasoning and the light char from the grill. Great tasting shrimp. Sweet potato fries were crispy and had a delicious sweet potato flavor.
For my drink I picked a strawberry mint julep. There was a little bit of tangy flavor, a little bit of sweetness, and a good amount of strawberry flavor. I liked this drink.
CA Fish Grill was clean and shiny inside. Employees were very nice and the food was excellent. Wish they would serve trout again like when this chain first opened their Mira Mesa location.

The shrimp plate looks delicious. The strawberry mint julep also sounds like something I would enjoy!
You should try both. They might be the best items on the menu.
