Crack Taco Shop gets its name from it’s “crack” tri-tip steak which originated from Seaside Market in Encinitas.
Tri-tip steaks are marinated in burgundy wine and pepper. Tortillas are made fresh daily.
Owner Ron Abbo showed me how they press and cook tortillas to order on the plat top.
Thicker than your normal tortilla and incredibly fluffy. I was impressed by the mild fresh flavor. Most taco shops have store bought tortillas which are more stiff. These tortillas were a welcome treat.
Grilled fish taco featured a white fish. Tender juicy fish was nicely marinated.
Al pastor taco featured tender, juicy, pork which was well marinated but not so much your mouth gets burned.
Tri tip taco featured tender beef that had a delicious flavor from the burgundy and pepper marinade.
2nd visit.
Shrimp taco featured a bunch of medium sized shrimp that had a nice snap and fresh flavor.
Birrea taco was loaded with tender beef that was dripping delicious juices. One of my favorite tacos here.
IPA fish taco featured crunchy beer batter and a tasty white fish. One of my favorite fish tacos.
Mango lemonade was a delicious mix of sweet mango and sour lemon flavor.
Crack Taco has some delicious tacos and the staff and owner provided friendly and speedy service.
Place is nicely decorated too.

The taco’s look very yummy! So do they live up to their name?
Yes. You loved the chicken tacos I bought you.
Everything is home made and the portions are huge. Both the birria and fish tacos are over-flowing. These gems are great to find off the beaten track – in a central location they would give half as much for twice the price.
2 tacos made for a good size lunch. 3 tacos was a huge lunch I barely finished. Awesome taco shop!
Great photos showing the hand made tortillas. I definitely will try more of the taco offerings.
Thanks! I love a bunch of their tacos. 🙂
