I read the National City Food Hall Market on 8th had opened so I decided to give it a try. Many food options. I had planned on visiting Smitty’s Taste of the Bayou but there was a huge line.
The guy at Serbesa was nice answering our questions so I gave them a try.
I ordered the pork belly kawali with rice. Jasmine rice was moist and had a mild flavor which is just how I like it. Pork belly was fried perfectly so you get a mix of crunchy skin, squishy fat, and tender pork. I liked the fried flavor.
Portion size was perfect for lunch. If I wanted a big meal I’d add an order of pork lumpia. Serbesa Filipino Kitchen is a great addition to the area. Staff was friendly and informative. They got my food out quickly too.
I remember the old days when this place was a furniture store. It was quiet. There was the small town feel. Now it’s so shiny and new and busy. Good luck getting a parking spot at meal time.
My chicken adobo sure was delicious! Next visit I’ll have to try out the mango desert/drink spot.
Good call!
I’m excited to visit this place. I hope it does well, and I think some of the food selections already there or planned will help it survive and thrive.
It’s going to hard as there are already a bunch of Filipino places nearby.
