Blue Bottle Coffee

Another business has opened in what was Sears.

They get baked goods from Hommage Bakehouse in Pacific Beach.

I tried the Kouign Amann.  Crunchy, sugary outer layer.

Fluffy delicate insides.  Huge blast of buttery flavor.  Delicious treat.

Croissant was soft, fluffy, and full of buttery flavor.

Tea cake was soft fluffy, sweet, lots of almond flavor.  Very tasty treat.

Cinnamon Pull-Apart Croissant had a thin crunchy outer layer and layers of softness underneath.  Light cinnamon flavor and streaks of sugar glaze on top enhanced the buttery goodness of this pastry.  One of my favorite treats here.

They have a container of dog treats by the door in case you bring your dog.  Blue Bottle Coffee has some great tasting baked goods.  On the pricey side though as you can get a dozen croissants for $4.99 at Costco that are pretty good while a single croissant is $5.00 here.

I remember the Sears Christmas catalog.  Each year I dreamed of getting one thing from those glossy pages.

  1. The tea cake looks delicious! I love how the building has so many glass windows.

    1. You can get treats for the dog too!

  2. The croissant and kouign-amann here look legit – I will have to try them or go straight to the source (Hommage Bakehouse). I’ve only visited Blue Bottle for their drinks, and while they have an iced option for most things, they tend to serve these in the same cups used for the hot drinks. I don’t enjoy the taste or smell of cardboard with my tea. To their credit, they’re doing their best to become zero waste by requiring people to bring their own containers, but this poses a different problem of course.

    1. Watch out for the PB traffic. There is more variety if you go to the source.

I like my tea in a ceramic mug. I brew it myself before work.
