JV’s Mexican Food

Hot, crunchy, dripping oil.  Generous amount of shredded, marinated beef.  Great tasting beef taco.

Carne asada taco had a good amount of beef.  Beef had a very mild flavor and could use more seasoning.  Tortilla was soft and had a mild corn flavor.

Carnitas taco featured crispy pork.  I enjoyed the mild fried flavor of the pork.

Buenelos was crunchy and had a sweet cinnamon flavor.  Great tasting dessert.

JV’s Mexican Food has tasty tacos and is now my favorite spot to get buenelos.  Staff was friendly and got my order out quick.

Thanks to Joy of The Joy of Food for suggesting this place.  Kirk of mmm-yoso!!! has visited too.

  1. The Hawaiian burrito and the mole bowl sound promising.

    1. They have breakfast all day Maggie!

  2. Definitely an oldie but a goodie – this place is older than the flood. I started out with their combo plates many, many years ago and eventually settled on the enchiladas, swimming in about two gallons of that delectable salsa roja. I haven’t been in several years, particularly now that I’m no longer in the area regularly, but it’s great to know that they’re still kicking!

    1. It’s good there are so many choices in where to get tacos. I noticed Puesto celebrated 10 years. Their 3 tacos for over $20 never appealed to me.

      1. Ha ha that’s actually the review I’m dropping on Tuesday. Puesto’s my fave for designer tacos. I get the cost discrepancy but there’s nothing like a filet mignon taco swaddled in their crunchy cheese crust. You should give it a try sometime during restaurant week when they do the special lunch menus!

        1. I love the flavor of the meat in Puesto tacos. I got them plain as I’m only interested in the meat. That wasn’t cost effective as the amount of meat in each taco wasn’t most more than the samples at Costco. It’s more cost effective for me to go to Black Angus and order filet mignon there as it’s just the meat I’m interested in.

  3. JV’s is quite popular and still going strong. It is, in my opinion one of the better taco shops in the area – though in my opinion Nico’s has it beat with regards to rolled tacos…..haven’t been in a while though. Thanks for the link.

    1. You are welcome! I’ll try Nico’s next.
