There are few things left from when I walked hand in hand with my father. The Chinese laundry we spent much of our time in has been home to many businesses. Currently there is a fancy wine shop. The Walker Scott where we went for the rare splurge has been gone for decades.
The San Diego Zoo is one spot that has more than survived. I still visit and am amazed by the wonders. The zoo keeps remaking itself better with the passage of time.
The elephants have a better enclosure now. They never forget. The polar bears have an awesome enclosure.
So many open enclosures now where you can get a good look at the animals. I remember the small cages and bars from the old days.
When the day ends one of my favorite things to do is go on the skyride.
From up high you can watch the setting sun.
I remember the last time I saw the light in my father’s eyes.
I sail my memories of home,
Like boats across the Seine.

Raising a glass in a toast to your Father on this beautiful Father’s Day. May the memories live long until you meet again at the end of the road.

It’s probably good we don’t really know, as it helps everyone be happy with the time we have I think.
The San Diego Zoo is truly a special place. I love to walk around and also visit its sister Wild Animal Park and go on the safaris. Always a great time at either one.
I love the Wild Animal Park too but it’s much hotter there. 🙁
Nice to see how the Zoo has progressed. We were members for 30+ years and when things were closed in 2020, they refunded our membership and we haven’t renewed. They do keep us on the mailing list and we receive the ZooNews Magazine in the mail…I do miss just going there for a quick walk.
You should renew next time they mail you a discount to renew. I’m waiting for that to renew. It is fun checking out the plants and animals.
