Moo’s Craft Barbecue

I was in Chinatown Los Angeles and interested in having bbq for lunch.

Fredo found Moo’s Craft Barbecue in nearby Lincoln Heights.  One of the oldest neighborhoods in Los Angeles, it was known as East Los Angeles from 1873 to 1917.

Moo’s is located in an old building but the inside is sparkling new.

Entering I noticed the scent of Texas bbq smoked in white oak.

I tried the pork ribs first.  Texture was extremely tender and juicy.  Loved the smoky flavor mixed with the peppery dry rub.  Flavor reminds me of Coop’s West Texas bbq.

Brisket was very tender and fairly juicy.  Loved the bold beefy flavor mixed with smokiness and the peppery flavor from the dry rub.

Cashier was nice and the staff got our order out promptly.  Moo’s has delicious Texas style bbq.  I’ll have to come back and try their beef ribs which are only available on Saturdays.

  1. Looks delicious! Think I’d try the turkey with potato salad.

    1. They make some great tasting food!

  2. Looks like L.A. is stepping up its barbecue game. And this is an area that’s rapidly changing. I used to be in the vicinity a lot for Mexican food, and of course downtown L.A. and Chinatown aren’t too far away.

    1. LA does have some tasty bbq. I did see a bunch of Mexican food places. How was it? Tacos El Gordo is my fav spot.

      1. I like the Ave 26 Stand near here, probably neck and neck with Tacos El Gordo. It can be pretty sketchy at night, though, and they’ve moved around a few times due to being shut down by the city. 😢

        1. Is this the Ave 26 Stand you are referring to? https://originalave26.com
