We were out in Escondido touring Lisa and Liang’s new house. After the tour we decided to get tacos. There are many taco shops to choose from in Escondido. We decided to try Birrieria Ay Jalisco. Nicely decorated inside.
Birrea de res taco was dripping with juices. Corn tortilla had a little crunch and a nice corn flavor. Birrea was tender and juicy with a ton of flavor. Great tasting taco.
Carnitas taco came with a mild flavored tortilla. Carnitas was tender and juicy. Flavor was very mild.
Horchata was very sweet with an underlying cinnamon flavor. I wouldn’t get this again as it’s too sweet for me.
Service wasn’t that good. Maggie didn’t get her guacamole with her dish. After she mentioned it and the guacamole was brought out it appeared as an extra charge on her bill when it was supposed to be part of her plate. Also we didn’t get chips and salsa though other tables got complimentary chips and salsa.
My go to spot for birrieria tacos is Mike’s Red Tacos. They have delicious birrieria and the service there is very good.

Pretty artwork on the walls. Not sure if I’d come back here, maybe.
They were just ok.
Nice that they have res or chivo options but sorry to hear the service isn’t ideal!
Looks like they play favorites here.
