Island Prime has a lovely view of the bay. I loved visiting this location when they had Sunday brunch on the Ruben E Lee. Now Coasterra and Island Prime/C-Level are here.
Lights are dim like fancy steakhouses of old. There are a good amount of fancy steaks to choose from.
I picked the 20oz prime rib eye. Cooked medium as requested, the steak was tender and juicy. There were a variety of toppings and sauces but I passed on the add ons. Seasoned with just salt and pepper the steak was bursting with delicious beef flavor.
One of the best ribeye steaks I’ve had.
The meal started with a fresh baked popover. Ember and Rye is the only other place I’ve seen the treat locally. There was a thin crunchy outer layer and inside it was still hot and steaming with delicate inner layers a bit like a croissant. Thanks to Joy of The Joy of Food for letting me know about the popovers here.
I enjoyed the light flavor which was kinda like a croissant without the rich buttery flavor.
For dessert I ordered the pineapple upside down cake. Cake was moist and sweet with a pineapple slice on top to give this dessert it’s signature sweet pineapple flavor. Loved the fresh out of the oven flavor.
I also tried Maggie’s potted brownie banana split. Brownie had an intense chocolate flavor. Ice cream on top was rich and full of peanut butter flavor. Bruleed bananas were sweet, full of banana flavor, and delicious. Very decadent dessert which I only took a few bites out of.
Service was friendly and speedy. Water with a cucumber slice had a clean refreshing flavor. I would definitely come here again. I would try to visit before 5pm and try to get a window seat. At 5pm they were all taken.
