I loved the treats from Pâtisserie Mélanie since Melanie opened her original location on Park Blvd. So I was excited to see Pâtisserie Mélanie had opened a new larger shop.
Random guy walked by as I was waiting in line and asked the crowd if we were waiting in line for free donuts. If there were free treats here the line would be around the block. Actually we were here for some of the finest baked goods in town and I parted ways with a twenty for 3 items.
Butter croissant had a crispy outer layer and velvety thin layers inside. Loved the rich buttery flavor. One of my favorites in town.
Pistachio croissant had all the buttery goodness of a butter croissant plus it was sliced open and pistachio paste was added. The pistachio paste added a sweet nutty flavor. I prefer the plain butter croissant.
Pain aux raisins had a crispy outer layer and soft insides. Sweet glaze on top plus a mix of golden raisins and regular ones gave this treat delicious sweet flavors.
Kouginette had a crunchy outside with soft delicate inner layers. Loved the sweet buttery flavor.
The new location is clean and fancy looking. Servers were nice and efficient. Treats were all delicious as ever.
When I was in 1st grade I remember walking home from school and getting ice cream at a Dairy Queen across the street. Looks like it’s a taco shop now. Everything changes.

Your pastries are a feast for the eyes!
They are even better in your mouth.
One of the few (only?) places in San Diego with a decent kouign-amann (kouginette)!
I don’t know where else to get a good one.
