It’s almost Dia de los Muertos. I like to have some Pan de Muerto to celebrate. This year I found some at Panderia La Buena.
Bakery reminds me of bakeries I visited when I was a kid. Nothing fancy. Just the colorful treats and the fresh baked aroma to entice you to buy. The lady in charge was nice and helpful with getting my treats.
Concha decorated like a pumpkin was fluffy with a sugary top. Bread part had a nice fresh mild flavor with a good amount of sweetness from the top. Cute and tasty.
Pan de Muertos was fluffy with lots of sugar on top. Like the concha the bread part had a nice mild flavor with a good amount of sweetness from the sugar.
The Pan de Muertos and the concha were similar bread base and I loved them both. I’ll have to return and try more treats here.
Dia de los Muertos is celebrated November 1 and 2. November 1 is a day to remember children while November 2 is to honor adults.

Nice looking bread! That’s great you found a new bakery.
It’s fun trying the various Pan de Muertos options in town.
Looks very fresh. We were in Irwindale/West Covina so we stopped in to Portos. Their Pan de Muerto has bits of orange peel, which is so fresh tasting. Panaderia La Buena looks like it has some nice items, will stop by when in the area.
Nice! Wish they had a Porto’s here. Panderia La Buena makes some tasty treats. 🙂
Very cool I will stop by and see if they still have some treats. I’ve gotten my pan dulce at Panchita’s Bakery a few times.
I like Panchita’s too. Which one do you go to?
I’ve always gone to the one in City Heights. I’ve driven by the other ones a million times, particularly the one in North Park, but never stopped. I will need to change that!
