We were staying in San Bruno and looking for awesome Chinese food. My co-worker Allisa suggested Koi Palace in Daly City. Most of the time I eat Chinese food at hole in the wall type places.
Koi Palace is the most ornate Chinese restaurant I have ever visited.
You order off the menu and they bring your order as it is prepared in the kitchen.
Har gow had a mild flavored rice wrapper and a delicious filling of shrimp and bamboo shoots. Very good.
Sui mei had a good amount of shrimp roe on top with a pork and shrimp filling. Very good.
Baked char sui boa had a sweet sugar crust on top like a concha and filled with a bbq pork mixture which had a sweet 5 spice powder based flavor. Excellent.
Great tasting dim sum and friendly service. I’ll be back next time I’m in the bay area.
Kirk from mmm-yoso!! has visited too.
Koi Palace SERRAMONTE PLAZA 365 GELLERT BLVD DALY CITY, CA 94015 (650) 992-9000
They do have tasty food!
Yup. We gotta go again!
I haven’t been to Koi Palace in many years. The wait was insane on weekends, so we would try to go on a weekday. I think there’s more restaurants now of that caliber, but for awhile it was the most upscale dim sum restaurant in the Bay Area.
We went on a weekday so there was no wait. 🙂 Where do you like to go for dim sum?
Looks delicious and like a great option in the area!
I look forward to trying some more dishes off their huge menu.
I don’t get up to the Bay Area very often. You mentioned Hong Kong Lounge in SF recently. Another well known place is Hong Kong Flower Lounge in Millbrae. I haven’t been to HKFL for dim sum in many years, but I have been to banquets pre-COVID.
In the old days I went up there every few years. Lots of great food up there. Looks like Hong Kong Flower Lounge is closed:

I recall going here for the first time in 1996. It was a gamechanger when it first opened way back then.
That’s great you visited back in the beginning!
