Bafang Dumplings

I remember when I first moved to Mira Mesa there was a 4 screen movie theatre here.  I spent lots of evenings here.

1

Now there is Bafang Dumplings.

Mini won ton soup had cute mini sized won tons.  Loved the meat which appeared to be marinated pork.  The soup was tasty and likely loaded with msg as I was pretty thirst afterwards.

Pork chop was breaded and had the bone removed.  Flavor was ok.  I think I’ll go for 2 won ton soups next time.

2nd visit I ordered the Bafang dumpling combo with won ton soup.

Dumpling texture was interesting.  One side was pan seared and the other wasn’t.  It was a little chewy.

My favorite dumpling texture is deep fried with the skin crispy all the way around.  Loved the flavor of the filling which was part pork and the rest cabbage.

Mini won ton soup was delicious and salty just like my first visit.

3rd visit I tried the beef noodle soup.

Noodles were smooth and had a mild flavor.  Bok choy was fresh and crunchy.

Beef was mostly tender except for one piece that was 25% tendon and hard.  Daikon was was soft and had a mild flavor.  I liked the flavor of the broth and there was a good amount of beef in this dish.

Frozen dumplings

Bafang Dumplings is pretty good.  I’d visit again if I need a break from my go to spots.  I prefer the won ton soup at Golden Chopsticks and I prefer the fried dumplings at Khan’s Cave.

  1. That’s interesting they sell frozen dumplings. Wonder if you’d like those more.

    1. Usually fresh food taste better than frozen food.

  2. That’s too bad about the dumplings especially given their name!

    1. I guess lots of people like their dumplings as there were huge lines when they opened. I prefer them crunchy like egg rolls.
