Each year I look forward to the beating of the drums, gong, and cymbals.
The music provides a steady beat for lion dancing.
Either at the start or the end there are firecrackers. The scent reminds me of the old days when firecrackers were readily available.
Lastly there is lucky money for the dancers to wish them good luck and prosperity.
2025 is the year of the snake. “More specifically, this year is that of the wood snake, with the wood element holding profound meaning across the three major organized Chinese religions. In Daoism, the wood is a sign of returning to one’s natural state or true nature, while in Confucianism it symbolizes becoming a more polished person. In Buddhism, it’s associated with letting go for growth.”

I celebrated at one of my favorite restaurants, Golden Chopsticks. They had a lion dance at 12:30pm 2/2/2025
While I waited for lion dancing I had an appetizer of bbq ribs. The pork ribs were cut into bite size pieces and I liked the sweet bbq flavor. A bit dry though.
I also ordered some beef broccoli. Broccoli was fresh and full of broccoli flavor. Beef was very tender and juicy. Sauce which tasted like oyster sauce nicely complimented the broccoli and beef flavors. Great tasting dish.
Jasmine tea had a delicious jasmine flavor and nicely complimented my meal.
Servers were nice and efficient and thanks to the kind owner who is always happy to see me and greets me warmly for sponsoring the awesome lion dance. Kirk from mmm-yoso!!! has visited too.
