When I was a kid there were many family restaurants like Brothers. These days they are hidden gems. Brother’s Family Restaurant has been operating since 1994 but the building feels much older.
I ordered the eggs with pork chops and a side of sausage. Eggs were scrambled. I liked how they were fluffy and had a fresh egg flavor. Country potatoes were soft and full of potato flavor. Pork chops had a smoky flavor from being grilled.
Sadly they were well done and the center was dry.
Sausage had a delicious sweet and savory flavor.
Apple pie had a sweet buttery crust I liked. Lots of big pieces of apple.
Apple filling was sweeter than I’d prefer, making it hard to taste the apples.
Staff was nice and my food came out promptly.
I was happy to see the windows decorated for St. Patrick’s Day. Reminds me of the old days. We lived in North Park and when I went shopping with my mom on University Av. we would see decorations for various holidays. Cathy from mmm-yoso!!! has visited too.
