Pappy & Harriet’s

I love visiting Pioneertown and checking out the Joshua trees.

After a long drive Pappy & Harriet’s is a welcome respite from the desert heat.  The scent of red oak from the outdoor grill fills the area.  I watched the flames from the burning red oak sear the meats.

I always get a complimentary soda water with slices of lemon or lime.  So refreshing.

Love how the place is decorated.

I can’t resist bbq and ordered a full rack of baby back ribs with fries.  The fries are big wedges with a thin crispy outside and fluffy inside.  Love the bold potato flavor.

Ribs were tender and juicy with a mix of smokiness and sweetness from the caramelized sauce.  Loved how there was a light char adding flavor to the ribs.  This is my favorite spot for bbq in the area.

2nd visit I tried a pork chop.  I usually pan fry the thin ones at home.  Here you get a thick one.

Lovely smoky flavor from the light char off the grill.  I am a huge fan of meat cooked over red oak.

While waiting for lunch I checked out the decor.  Lots of cool bands have played here.

Would have been awesome to visit when Sir Paul McCartney played here.

Service was friendly and the delicious Santa Maria style bbq was cooked to order.
