I remember this mall. Fresh out of college I worked at K-Mart which is now half Burlington Coat Factory and half Northgate Market. I ate here back when this restaurant was Lucky Star. Food was similar to Convoy St dim sum restaurants. Now the place is called Diamond Palace.
Fried chicken wings
Chef Char Seafood N Soul

I read about a new soul food spot located inside Parkway Plaza’s food court.
bb.q Chicken

This place makes me feel old. Pounding music was what I first noticed. This is the loudest I’ve heard music at a restaurant. It was difficult asking questions and ordering as the girl at the counter couldn’t hear me. It seems you can’t get chicken wings without some kind of sauce.
Pelicana Chicken

It wasn’t so long ago I was eating chicken wings here and the place was called Urban Eats. The chicken wings were not that good but the beef short ribs were delicious. Now there is a big Pelicana Chicken sign outside.
Jay’s Southern Cafe

Alpine has a quiet small town vibe a bit like Julian but without the horde of tourists. Lots of one story buildings and land that hasn’t been paved over.
The Original Sab-E-Lee

I remember visiting Sab-E-Lee at it’s original location and there were 2 small tables.
