In days past I loved seeing the eerie green glow of neon on this block. Pekin Cafe was next door and the friendly staff would fill you with tasty Chinese food. Now Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams will be a light in the dark and keep you from going home hungry.
Ice cream
Pacific Beach Ice Cream Co.
When I was a kid during the hot days of summer I would long for an ice cold bottle of Hires Root Beer. The icy bottle would chill my hands as that cold refreshing liquid flowed past my lips. That sweet root beer flavor would bring a smile to my face.
Big John’s Texas BBQ
On the way to Monument Valley I noticed Big John’s Texas BBQ along the way. I could not resist.
Red Button Ice Cream @ Bee’s Marketplace
When on vacation I love exploring supermarkets and seeing what exotic foods I can try. Bee’s Marketplace has a cool name and inside it appeared to be your typical supermarket. What impressed me is the awesome ice cream section.
Thunderbird Restaurant
Maggie picked out a nice B&B for our stay at Mt. Carmel as it was close to Zion National Park. One of the cool things about small towns is you come across unique diners.
Buona Forchetta
I like eating in this South Park neighborhood Buona Forchetta is located. It’s mostly one or two story buildings.
Ben & Jerry’s – Seaport Village
One of the things I looked forward to every year was free ice cream day at Ben & Jerry’s. I walked across the street for delicious ice cream. Sadly the UTC location closed and the Seaport Village shop is the last one in town. My visits now are few and far between.
