Día de los Reyes Day is celebrated on January 6th. Each person cuts into the rosco and the lucky one gets the part with the plastic figurine of baby Jesus. I visited Carnival Market to get some Rosco de Reyes.

Brown’s Bbq

I was excited to see oxtails on the menu at Brown’s Bbq. Sadly they didn’t have any when I visited. I asked the owner and found out he only makes oxtail when enough people have requested it and there is an oxtail event.

I wondered about all the rocking chairs outside. I now understand. There is often a wait to get in. Your options are shop in the gift shop, sit in the rocking chairs, or wait in your car.

I remember the first time I had Chinese food in this area at Wendell Hom’s Teapot Inn. He opened it in 1966 and my brother worked there while he went to college at SDSU. It was dark and I loved the food there.
