I had my first apple pie when I was 4 and there was an old bakery 2 blocks from our Chinese laundry. Since then I’ve been on the lookout for a great pie. I was excited to try Mamma Toledo’s The Pie Hole on my last visit to Scottsdale.
Las Cuatro Milpas

This neighborhood looks different than the first time I visited. There are less old houses. Instead fancy looking apartments are popping up. I hoped Las Cuatro Milpas isn’t gentrified. Downtown’s skyscrapers seem closer every year. Las Cuatro Milpas has been here since 1933.
KFC – Mira Mesa Blvd

“We are making photographs to understand what our lives mean to us.” Ralph Hattersley I took a few photos of the chicken when the guy behind the counter told me photos are not allowed.
Lilac Foods

After Easter Sunday lunch at Fat Ivors we left in search of fresh strawberries. Nice waitress mentioned the strawberry lady in front of Lilac Foods. We drove up and found the strawberry lady with strawberries.
Salt & Straw – One Paseo
When I was a kid Sue Bee made the most delicious honey I had ever tasted. Orange blossom honey had that honey sweetness with hints of orange blossom. I have never tasted such a delicious orange flavor till now.
Island Spice Restaurant

I was lucky enough to win a trip to Cayman Brac once. The island food was amazing. Fresh seafood was in abundance and the seasonings and preparation resulted in vivid flavors. I was looking forward to trying some island food at Island Spice.
