The small town ambiance is still here. I’ve driven by this old building many times. It’s not as crowded here as the new hipster places further down the road.

The Taco Stand – La Jolla
The origin of churros is unclear. One theory is they were brought to Europe by the Portuguese. The Portuguese sailed for the Orient and, as they returned from Ming Dynasty China to Portugal, they brought along with them new culinary techniques, including modifying the dough for You tiao also known as Youzagwei in Southern China, for Portugal. However, they modified it by introducing a star […]
Tony’s Fresh Mexican Food
On my way to or from Mira Mesa I passed by this building many a time. Before Tony’s I remember it being MXN. I wondered what the food was like. I have found some good places on Miramar Road like Seaside Buffet, Chin’s, and LouZiana Food.
Letty’s Casita – El Centro
Letty’s looks like the houses I use to live near when I was a kid. Nice roomy inside with a big yard in the front. Much more spacious than the tiny apartments we lived in. I like the scents inside. I try a carne asada taco first. Corn tortilla is freshly made in the […]
Tu Taco Taco Shop
I venture out to the southern edge of the country in search of tacos. I remember my mom use to visit one of her friends out here. It was quiet and there was lots of open space. Now it’s quiet and there is abundant parking in this strip mall. This is another of […]
TJ Tacos
It was back in my college days I had my first TJ taco in Tijuana. An old lady had a cart on the sidewalk. Juicy meat leaked juices onto the little corn tortillas. They were small, cheap and delicious. It’s been a long time since I had a TJ taco so I was excited when […]
Taco Villa
Place was the General Store in the old days. After that there was a Cafe. Now it’s a huge taco shop with lots of outdoor seating. I visited on taco Tuesday when the tacos are $2. Watch it as I knew something was wrong when I was billed over $20. I have decent math skills […]
Vallarta Express Mexican Eatery – Genesse Av.
Growing up one of my favorite places to eat was Picnic N Chicken. They all had a drive through and looked like a cute blue and white barn. Vallarta Express looks like a barn with a drive through. I wonder if it use to be a Picnic N Chicken. How I missed the hot […]
